Girl, 8, expelled from school 'after telling another girl she had crush on her'

An eight-year-old girl has reportedly been expelled from her school after telling another girl she had a crush on her.

Mum Delanie Shelton claims the vice principal of Rejoice Christian School in Owasso, near Tulsa, US, called her in after daughter Chloe made the remark in the playground.

She said the child was left in tears and asked "Does God still love me?" after being told by school bosses the Bible only allows her to romantically love a man.

Delanie said Chloe's brother, aged 5, has also been booted out and she is faced with finding new schools for both of her kids despite the pandemic after Rejoice opted to terminate their enrollment.

She told Fox 23 News : "The vice principal asked me how do I feel [about] girls liking girls and I said if we're being honest, I think it's okay for girls to like girls and she looked shocked and appalled.

"They ripped my kids out of the only school they've ever really known away from their teachers and friends they've had over the past four years over something my daughter probably doesn't know or fully understand."

Delanie said she strives to raise her children to have the view people can love whoever they want, regardless of gender.

"Whatever makes people happy they should be allowed to do," she continued. "She was upset and crying and asking me if God still loves me if she is wrong for the way that she feels.

"The superintendent called me and let me know that they would be ending their partnership with our family."

The school also reportedly told Delanie relationships between pupils are not condoned.

In a statement to  Fox23 the school - which was opened in 1992 and has over 1,000 pupils - said: "Due to privacy and other factors, it is the school’s policy to refrain from public comments regarding any particular student or family."

The school previously cited the school’s student handbook and policy.
