A young girl was crushed to death after an inflatable slide she was playing on with her mum collapsed while they were on holiday.
The eight-year-old was playing on the inflatable water slide - dubbed ‘Deep Sea Treasure’ - at the popular Fengda International Hot Spring Holiday Resort on Saturday when the incident occurred.
Tragedy struck when the top of the inflatable structure partially collapsed at around 4pm, sending the girl tumbling into the folding material.
In a video taken by an onlooker, the girl's mum screams for help as her daughter lies net to her.
Other tourists gather around the child's mum who can be heard shouting: “Call an ambulance! Has anyone called an ambulance?”
The girl and her mum were among dozens of tourists - including adults and children - playing on the giant inflatable water slide in the city of Huangshan in East China’s Anhui Province.
Police confirmed the girl was taken to Huangshan People's Hospital for treatment but she was pronounced dead after unsuccessful attempts to revive her.
It is believed the girl's surname is Cai.
It has since been revealed that four other tourists were injured during the collapse.
Their conditions have been described as not life-threatening.
It is still unclear why the inflatable water slide collapsed.
An unnamed female staff member told reporters the accident was likely caused by overcrowding, despite tourist numbers having been regulated on the day of the incident.
It is unclear at this stage how many people were on the inflatable structure at the time of the collapse.
An investigation remains ongoing.
