Girl, 8, collapsed and 'cracked head' in Sainsbury's and her mum couldn't believe staff's reaction

A mum couldn't believe the response from Sainsbury's staff after her eight-year-old daughter collapsed and "cracked her head" in one of its stores.

Lisa Mullin, 42, told the ECHO how grateful she was after an army of "angels" came to help her when Isla passed out and "cracked her head on the floor".

The mum-of-two had popped into the Sainsbury's in Upton, Wirral, and said she had taken the kids with her for the first time in ages because her partner, Colin Pascoe, had gone on a night out.

She said: "Just after we arrived Isla slipped on the floor - totally her own fault, it wasn't wet or anything.

"She fell and really hurt her back and she just jumped straight up - I think she got up so quick because she had felt embarrassed and she looked like she was going to cry.

"I immediately hugged her and told her it was OK and then I felt her step back, so I let go of her.

"But she hadn't stepped back, she had fainted and she just fell straight onto the floor and really cracked her head. It was so scary."

In a panic, Lisa said she forgot all her first aid training and frantically looked around for some help before spotting a Sainsbury's worker.

An announcement was made over the loudspeakers and two off duty paediatric nurses rushed to help Isla.

Within seconds Isla was put in the recovery position and it wasn't long before her eyes flickered open and she came round.

Lisa said: "It was then that I looked at my son, Aaron, and he looked so lost because he is only five, a Sainsbury's worker took him to go and get some sweets."

Lisa said she was astounded at the help and support she was then offered, she said: "One lady finished my shopping list and we were taken to the Sainsbury's cafe.

"We had walked to the shop because we live close by, but a member of staff insisted they took us home in their own car.

"And they wouldn't let me pay for my shopping, which I was so embarrassed about because there was wine on the list.

"I went back the next day and took them some chocolates and put food of the same value of my shopping in their food donations."

After being checked over at A&E and a good night's rest, Lisa said Isla is completely fine now and can not thank the staff and people who came to help them.

She added: "They all really are absolute angels and I can’t thank them enough."
