Girl, 7, sexually assaulted by man near Scots park as police launch appeal for information

Police have launched an appeal for information after a seven-year-old girl was sexually assault at a Scots park.

The incident occurred between 5pm and 6.30pm on Saturday, July 10 near Castle Green Playpark in Broughty Ferry, Dundee.

It is believed to be an isolated incident and Police Scotland officers are looking to speak to anyone in the area at the time who can assist.

Officers are particularly keen to speak to a young boy between 10 to 13-years-old with short fair hair who might be able to help.

He was wearing white t-shirt with red and black stripes or blocks with dark coloured shorts at the time of the occurrence.

Detective Inspector Gail Hill, from Tayside CID, said: “This was a distressing incident for the child involved and her family. We are thoroughly investigating to establish the full circumstances and the public can expect to see an increased police presence in the area.

“If you were at or near the playpark on Saturday afternoon and took any family photos or videos, these could prove a great help to our enquiries. Otherwise, if you believe you have any information, please come forward.

“You can contact police on 101, quoting incident 2958 of 10 July. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
