A seven-year-old girl died after a car "rolled over her" on a driveway this afternoon.

Emergency services rushed to the scene in Drogheda, Ireland, and dashed the child to hospital.

But medics were unable to save her, Irish Mirror says.

In a statement, a garda spokesman: "Gardaí in Drogheda are investigating an incident which occurred in the driveway of a house in Boyle O'Reilly Terrace at approximately 2.30pm today 7th July 2019.

"Initial investigations indicate that a 7 year old female was fatally injured in what appears to be a tragic accident involving a car.
