Girl, 6, killed and two other children injured after being run over outside school

A six-year-old girl has been killed and two other children left with serious injuries after being run over when a woman is thought to have lost control of her automatic car.

Police and paramedics raced to Montealto School, a bilingual private school in Madrid’s Mirasierra area, around 5.30pm today as children were leaving the school.

The incident was thought to have happened when a mum lost control of her automatic car and mounted the curb.

She was said to have been picking up her own children at the time.

The single vehicle is said to have hit all three children.

The youngest of the three casualties is reported to have gone into cardiac arrest after being knocked down.

The area where the tragedy happened is described as being “very busy” with traffic and is on a roundabout.

It was not immediately clear whether any arrests have been made.

Mirasierra belongs to the district of Fuencarral-El Pardo, which is north of the city centre and a short drive from Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu stadium.
