Girl 5, with fear of germs left 'traumatised' after falling face first into dog faeces

A five-year-old girl with a fear of germs burst into tears after falling face first into dog faeces.

Little Emelia was sick and traumatised after she fell into the dog mess which went in her face and mouth and all over her clothes.

She was on her way home from school when she fell on top of leaves that were hiding the large pile which had been left in the middle of the path in Halifax, West Yorkshire.

Her mum Sarah Varley was disgusted by the dog's owner for failing to pick up after their pet, Yorkshire Live reports.

Sarah, of Boothtown, said: "It's disgusting. We have two dogs and always pick up after them.

"The smell made her sick. Any smell will make her gag. She has a fear of germs.

"I just dropped her off at school and asked her teacher to keep an eye on her. I'm going to report it to the council too."

Emelia began to gag and was sick after her messy fall but it appears she has not become seriously unwell.

Sarah rushed to find something to clean her daughter who is scared of germs, while her sister Ella took a photo of the horrible moment.

The mum now hopes the dog owner can be brought to justice after her daughter's horrifying ordeal.

She said: "It's a nightmare near the school. People walk past to take the dogs onto the park but don't pick up the mess.

"They shouldn't have dogs if they won't clean up after them."

Contact with dog faeces can cause humans to develop Toxocariasis.

The condition can cause stomach pain, a cough or a temperature and occasionally leads to problems with organs such as the liver, lungs, eyes or brain.

The rare infection is caused by roundworm parasites. Humans can catch it by handling soil or sand contaminated with infected animal faeces.
