A five-year-old girl was found chained to a bed after neighbours heard screams coming from a 'house of horrors'.
The child, whose name has not been revealed, was found inside the house in El Refugio, in the city of Ciudad Fernandez, in Mexico, on Friday.
Her right foot was reportedly chained to the metal bed structure and a padlock was keeping the chain in place, according to reports.
Mexican authorities said a tub was found next to her which she used as a toilet while rubbish and clothes were sprawled across the floor.
She had injuries on her right leg caused by the chains but was reportedly calm when rescuers found her.
She is now in the custody of the Integral Development of the Family in San Luis Potosi who have launched an investigation into who chained her up and claims of child abuse and domestic violence.
It is not known whether the house where the girl was found belonged to her parents.
No arrests have been made.
