A five-year-old girl decided to revive the Clap for Carers over the holiday period to thank NHS staff as they battle against the new Omicron variant.
Ava Ditchfield, from West Derby, was invited by Everton FC to do the clap in the centre of Goodison Park, and also did the same at the top of Radio City Tower.
Along with the rest of the country, Ava began the weekly clap for the NHS when the pandemic first struck in 2020. However, she kept it going right through until the end of that year, long after everyone else had finished.

She has revived it intermittently since, such as after the sad passing of fundraiser Captain Tom Moore last February, and again over this festive period as the NHS struggled with the new Covid variant and began a massive booster vaccination programme.
Proud dad Alan Ditchfield, 44, said: "Ava wanted to clap for all the amazing NHS and key workers who were working hard in one of the busiest times in all hospitals in England.
"None of us want the clapping to be brought back permanently, but it seemed like a nice gesture as they struggle to cope with the latest variant."
Several members of Ava's family have battled against Covid, including her mum who developed pneumonia in 2020 and spent five days in hospital where she was given oxygen to help her breathe. Ava herself also tested positive for Covid at the start of this year, after she'd done the clapping.
