Girl, 4, hailed a 'legend' for her zero-effort performance at dance show

A four-year-old girl has become an internet star for her dance performance in which she refused to move a muscle and starred out at the crowd for six minutes straight.

A video showing Charlie standing in a tutu and mask as a group dance takes place around her has racked up more than five million views on TikTok as viewers said her mood perfectly sums up 2020.

It was uploaded by her relative Caleb who wrote: "Went to my niece’s outdoor dance recital and witnessed this legend" - and it received a rapturous reception on social media.

A second video showing Charlie's 'only movement' during the six-minute sequence shows her raising her hand to brush hair away from her face before returning to her motionless routine.

The teacher leading the recital can be seen turning around attempting to encourage Charlie to join in, who simply stares back until she gives up.

Charlie's mum Tiffany Cosby had no idea her toddler was internet famous until one of her colleagues alerted her to her daughter's new fanbase.

Tiffany told BuzzFeed that her daughter really had "just stood there and stared" for six minutes, but did join in the last dance when she was moved away from centre stage.

She said when she asked her daughter why she didn't dance at the beginning, she told her mum "there were a lot of people".

"Honestly I could relate," said Tiffany. "I think the thing that surprises me the most is when things are posted on the internet you're going to expect negative comments.

"I was talking to family about how great it was that a majority of the comments were uplifting.

"When she grows up and she can read, it will be a good experience for her and not a bad one."

The post was flooded with thousands of comments praising Charlie for the performance. One said: "I don't know why but I aspire to be her."

A second wrote: "She said 'give me real choreography'."

Another replied: "It's the teacher looking back at her trying to get her to join in for me."

A fourth added: "Legend says she's still standing there to this day."
