Girl, 3, left with serious injuries after dog attacks her face

Police are appealing for the public’s help after a dog bit a three-year-old girl on the face causing serious injuries.

Officers were called to the Enderby Square/Woodside Road area in Lenton Abbey, shortly after 3.30pm on Tuesday, May 19.

A German Shepherd, which was off its lead, bit the girl before the dog and its female walker left the scene.

The walker is described as in her late 40s, about 5ft 5ins tall and has red hair. She was wearing shorts.

The girl has been taken to Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre.

The extent of her injuries is unknown at this time.

Inspector John Lees, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: "Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and we are appealing for anyone who witnessed what happened.

"We are also appealing for anyone who knows the identity of the dog walker to please contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 458 of 19 May 2020, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
