West Midlands Police said in a statement: "We can confirm a three-year-old girl left seriously injured following a crash in Yardley has sadly died.
"She was taken to hospital after the car she was in hit a fence and rolled over in Church Road on Wednesday evening (22 December). She tragically died yesterday evening.
"A 22-year-old woman was arrested at the time on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and later released under investigation while enquiries continue.
"We're continuing to ask for anyone who was in the area at around 10.30pm and may have information or dash cam footage. We'd ask people not to speculate and instead come to us with any information.
Flowers have since been laid at the scene, near to a damaged fence, in tribute to the tot.
Sgt Julie Lyman, from the Serious Collision Investigation Team, previously said: “This is a tragic incident and we are supporting the family of the little girl who has been badly injured.
“If anyone saw what happened or has dash-cam footage, and has not spoken to us, I would ask them to get in touch.
“We would also ask people not to speculate about what happened at this stage until we have completed a full investigation.”
