Girl, 3, dies after being hit by car in Fife as police launch appeal for witnesses

A three-year-old girl has tragically died after being hit by a car in Fife.

Emergency services raced to the scene in Main Street, Townhill, near Dunfermline, at around 10.10am on Monday.

The young girl had been knocked down by a blue Nissan Micra and suffered serious injuries.

She was rushed to the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy but was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.

The road remains closed while police carry out accident investigation works.

No one else was injured during the collision.

Sergeant Stephen Quinn, of Road Policing East, said: “Our thoughts go out to the family of those involved with this tragic incident and I would ask that their privacy is respected at this time.

“Our enquiries continue into the exact circumstances surrounding the crash and we would ask that if anyone has any information that they contact officers.

“I would also ask that if anyone has any possible dashcam or CCTV footage of the area to get in touch with police.

“Police can be contacted on 101 quoting incident number 0933 of Monday, 3 August, 2020.”
