A two-year-old girl has tragically died after being found in a critical condition in Cork city.
The tot was found in an apartment in the city with serious injuries on Friday morning.
Emergency services rushed to the scene on Boreenmanna Road at around 5am before transferring her to Cork University Hospital where she later passed away.
Gardai at Anglesea Street have begun an investigation into the infant's death.

A technical examination of the apartment is to be carried out over Friday afternoon.
Gardai say a post mortem is being arranged and the results of it will determine the course of the investigation. No one has been arrested.
A spokeswoman said: "The post mortem will take place this afternoon under Deputy State Pathologist Dr Margot Bolster.
"Gardaí are currently carrying out door to door enquiries in the Elderwood Apartment complex on Boreenmanna Road and the surrounding area.
"An incident room has been established at Anglesea Street Garda Station. A technical examination of the apartment will be carried out this morning by Crime Scene Examiners from Cork City.

"Gardaí are appealing to any person who was in the Elderwood Apartment complex between 4pm on Thursday and 6am on Friday, who has not already spoken to Gardaí to come forward.
