Girl, 2, cycles 48 miles in nine days to raise thousands for sister who died

Here’s a tiny cyclist who has hit top gear at the age of just two, as she is already riding without stabilisers.

Daisy Adams recently rode 48 miles in nine days to raise more than £3,000 to honour her sister who died shortly after being born.

And the tot was an early starter, riding a balance bike at only seven months. Daisy often goes on trips with parents Helen and Rob.

They are convinced one day she will ride in competitions, like Rob, 44, used to. Helen, 33, said: “Her dad was a really big cyclist so we bought Daisy this cute toddler bike. We then got her a balance bike.

“We got her a pedal bike when she was two and, within two months, she biked off on her way to the zoo. She can do around 11 miles unassisted, more if we tow her.”

Speaking about Daisy’s ride for the Sands baby bereavement charity, Helen, of Bristol, added: “Her older sister, Lily, died 45 minutes after birth. During lockdown she would ask to go and see her in the cemetery.

“We would bike there and then thought that charities were really struggling for money.

“Daisy rode 48.8 miles in nine days. We wanted to raise £450 but we’re actually at just over £3,000. It’s great Daisy can cycle so far. If she keeps going like this she’ll probably race.”
