Girl, 17, who pushed bear off wall to save her pet dogs shares her injuries

A 17-year-old girl who pushed a bear off her garden wall in a bid to save her dogs has released a video showing her injuries.

Hailey Morinico suffered a sprained finger and a scraped knee after running outside her home, pushing the animal away and going back indoors with her pooches.

A video of the incident - filmed by surveillance cameras - went viral after it was published on TikTok by the girl's cousin, attracting thousands of comments by shocked viewers.

In the clip, Hailey can be seen rushing towards the bear when she realises that it is about to pick up one of her dogs in the garden.

She then picks up her pets, looks around the garden to make sure they are all fine and enters her home.

The teen told Good Morning America: “Honestly, I did not know it was a bear until right after I pushed it.

“I didn't know I had it in me to be honest. Who does that? Who in their right mind pushes a bear?"

In a new video posted after her brave actions went viral, Hailey showed her injuries and said she intervened to "protect my kids".

She added: “I live in the mountains so that is actually really normal and it’s summer so they always come now."

Hailey said she ran towards her dogs as she heard them barking and wanted to tell them to stop - but she soon noticed the big animal on the wall.

She explained: “I go over to the bear, I look it in the eyes, and the first thing I think to do is push it. Push a bear, push an apex predator.

"To be honest, I don’t think I pushed her that hard. I just pushed her enough to make her lose her balance, so she dropped my dog and I ran out of there.

"I grabbed my other dog, I sprained my finger and scraped my knee, but we’re all OK."

But following the incident, she told KTLA: "Don’t do what I did, you might not have the same outcome."

On TikTok, a person said: "You pushed a whole bear! Like the bravery."

Another commented: "You literally went into mama bear mode."

One more added: "I'd honestly do the same. My dogs are my kids. You're so brave!"
