A teenager has died after falling from a bridge.
Police and paramedics rushed to the bridge over the A56 Haslingden shortly after 1pm today.
Lancashire Police have confirmed that the girl, aged 17, died a short time later.
Her death is not being treated as suspicious,.
The carriageway, near where the road meets the M66, was taped off in both directions while the emergency service attended the scene.
Any witnesses to the tragedy are being urged to contact the police.

A statement released by Lancashire Police said: "We were called shortly after 1pm today to reports a woman had fallen from a bridge over the A56, Haslingden.
"Emergency services attended but the woman, aged 17, sadly died a short time later. It is not thought to be suspicious. Witnesses are asked to call 101, log 647 of 14th Oct."
