Girl, 16, forced into back of car in street kidnapping

A 16-year-old girl was forced into the back of a silver car in a kidnapping which police have described as "targeted."

The incident happened on Tuesday, May 11 at around 7.45am outside a shop on Cherry Lane, Warrington.

In what was thought to be a targeted attack, the girl was put into the car by a young man but has since been found safe and well and didn't sustain any injuries.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and has since been released on conditional bail.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Detective Constable Sophie Davies, of Warrington Local Policing Unit, said: "I want to reassure the public that this was a targeted incident and the male was known to the girl.

"Since it was reported to police we have been following a number of lines of enquiry to establish the circumstances around what exactly has taken place.

"As part of that we believe a number of people were present at the time it took place and may have seen what occurred and I am encouraging them to come forward and get in touch with us.

"In particular a man who is believed to have been walking a dog at the time and challenged the man while it was occurring. If this is you please do contact us."

If you have any information contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 985170. Information can also be passed on anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
