Girl, 16, fighting for her life and second teenager injured in double stabbing

A 16-year-old girl is fighting for her life and a second teenager has been injured in a double stabbing in south London.

Police found the two girls aged 16 and 17 suffering from stab injuries after they were called to reports of an assault in West Norwood on Sunday just after 4.30pm.

Both girls were rushed to a hospital in south London where the 16-year-old's condition is being treated as life-threatening.

Police are awaiting an assessment of the second girl’s condition.

A witness said on Twitter they had seen a teenage stab victim 'bleeding' through their clothes on the pavement as they drove through the area, MyLondon reports.

Other eyewitnesses said an air ambulance 'landed on top of B&Q' in the area before carrying away a stab victim.

Helen Hayes the Labour MP for Dulwich and West Norwood tweeted: "Appalled to hear of the stabbing of two teenage girls on Norwood Road this afternoon.

"My thoughts are with both victims, at least one of whom has life threatening injuries, and their families. If you have any information please contact @CrimestoppersUK anonymously #westnorwood."

Police have confirmed officers remain in the area and a crime scene is in place.
