A 16-year-old girl has died in hospital after being hit by a car in Kent.

The teen was struck while crossing an A-road in Sittingbourne, Kent Live reports.

Kent Police said the driver stopped immediately after the collision.

The teen was rushed to a London hospital after the November 1 incident on Canterbury Road, at the junction with Murston Road, but tragically did not survive her injuries.

The collision took place at around 6.25pm, as the teen crossed in the direction of Rectory Road, police said.

The car involved was a silver Vauxhall Zafira, the force added.
