Girl, 16, dies after being struck by car on Great Western Road

A 16 year old girl has tragically died after being struck by a car on Great Western Road last night.

The incident happened near to the junction of Garscadden Road at around 7.45pm, with the teenager rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital shortly after for treatment. However, she sadly passed away in the hospital.

Emergency services attended the scene of the crash, with the road closed for a period of time following the incident.

Officers have confirmed an investigation into the incident has been launched, with enquiries ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 16-year-old girl has died following a collision on Great Western Road last night. (Saturday 5 December)

"Officers were called to the incident, near to the junction of Garscadden Road around 7.45pm after reports a pedestrian had been hit by a car.

"The teenager was taken to The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where she passed away.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
