A girl aged 16 was held on suspicion of murder today in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man in south London.

She was questioned over the death of 22-year-old Ayodeji Habeeb Azeez, one of five killings in the capital over a six-day period.

Mr Azeez, who came from Dagenham, was stabbed in Samos Road, Anerley, on Sunday in what detectives believe was an attack by four or five suspects.

The girl is the third person to be arrested over the stabbing.

The latest arrest came after Met Commissioner Cressida Dick vowed she would not “give up” fighting knife crime with her “under-resourced” force.

Last night police named a 16-year-old boy who was fatally stabbed in Tulse Hill on Monday as John Ogunjobi. They say he was attacked by several suspects.

A video also emerged showing 15-year-old Jay Hughes being fatally stabbed as he waited outside a fast food shop in Bellingham last week, in what friends have said was a case of mistaken identity.

Meanwhile a boy aged 15 was injured after being attacked with a bottle in a row in the street in Brixton last night.
