Girl, 16, arrested and fails drugs test after being caught driving in Salford in early hours

A 16-year-old girl has been arrested following a police chase.

Traffic officers from Greater Manchester Police (GMP) claimed they followed a silver Vauxhall Corsa from Farnworth to Little Hulton in the early hours of this morning.

The car was allegedly abandoned on Chedworth Crescent, with the driver said to have then attempted to run away.

Police said that the driver, a 16-year-old girl, was then arrested. She later failed a drug test and was taken to Swinton Police Station.

The car was also seized by police.

Sharing news of the arrest to Twitter, just after 1am this morning, a spokesman for GMP Traffic wrote: "This corsa was pursued from Farnworth into Little Hulton where it was abandoned on Chedworth Crescent.

"Following a foot chase the female driver aged 16 was arrested by XT18. She would also fail a drug test and is currently on her way to Swinton custody. Car seized."
