A teenage girl was stabbed after violence erupted at an illegal “Weed Day” celebration in Hyde Park yesterday.

Officers on patrol treated the 15-year-old victim for a leg wound at 6.10pm.

Pictures taken at the scene show a group of females fighting, one of whom was holding a knife.

The youngster was taken to hospital where her condition is not believed to be life threatening or life changing.

Thousands of marijuana lovers flocked to the park for the 4/20 rally, which is held every year on April 20 demanding the Class B drug is decriminalised. April 20 is dubbed “420 day” as the date in the US calendar is written as 4/20 — and the digits have become synonymous with cannabis culture.

Some of the good-natured crowd in Hyde Park openly smoked cannabis and police were not seen enforcing the law.

Scotland Yard said: “At 6.12pm on Tuesday, April 20 officers on patrol in Hyde Park became aware of a fight in progress. They dispersed those involved and found a 15-year-old girl who had been stabbed in the leg.

“The girl has been taken to hospital. Her condition is not believed to be life threatening or life changing.”

Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101, quoting reference CAD6227/20APR.
