Girl, 15, killed and boy, 14, seriously hurt after collision with lorry while on bike

A 15-year-old girl has died and a 14-year-old boy has been seriously injured in a car crash.

A lorry collided with the two teenagers as they travelled on a bicycle yesterday.

The girl has since died while the boy has received treatment in hospital for injuries.

These are not believed to be life-threatening.

Emergency services dashed to the crash in North Hykeham, Lincolnshire, which is said to have shocked the community.

Inspector Ian Richardson, of Lincolnshire Police, said: "This devastating incident has not only had a major impact on the families of these teenagers but it has shocked the community.

"We would ask people not to speculate while investigations continue. If anyone witnessed this incident they can contact us on 101."

Roads in the area were cosed for several hours last night.

Police resumed the investigation today and have made no arrests.

A spokesman for East Midlands Ambulance Service said yesterday: "We received a call at 5.10pm yesterday, October 9 to Station Road, North Hykeham, Lincoln to assist with a medical emergency.

"We sent a LIVES First Responder, two paramedics in ambulance cars, a crewed ambulance and the air ambulance.
