Girl, 14, taken to hospital after being hit by a car on busy road

An investigation has been launched after a 14-year-old girl was struck by a car last night.

The teenager was hit on Knowsley Road, near the junction with Stanley Road, in Bootle, at about 8pm yesterday.

Police said the girl was struck by a grey Mercedes A-class.

She was taken to hospital after but the force said she only suffered minor injuries.

An investigation was launched, although the driver of the car is assisting with enquiries.

The force is appealing for an witnesses to the crash.
