Girl, 14, in hospital after being hit by car outside East Kilbride primary school

A 14-year-old girl was rushed to hospital yesterday after being knocked down by a car outside a primary school in East Kilbride.

The teenager was stuck by a Skoda on Lickprivick Road, near to Castlefield Primary in Greenhills, at around 4.20pm.

Emergency services raced to the scene and the youngster, who was reportedly lying on the road, was rushed to Hairmyres Hospital for treatment.

Police confirmed this morning her injuries were not life-threatening and she is understood to be in a stable condition.

PC Lucie Black told the East Kilbride News the driver of the car was released without charge.

She said: "A female youth, aged 14, was involved in a road accident on Lickprivick Road, East Kilbride at around 4.20pm on Tuesday, June 4.

"She was struck by a vehicle near to the school and taken to Hairmyres Hospital for assessment. Her injuries were not life-threatening and no charges were brought against the driver."
