Girl, 14, fighting for life after being hit by taxi while riding bike

A 14-year-old girl is in a critical condition in hospital after her bike was hit by a taxi on a busy road in north Liverpool.

The emergency services were called out to Stanley Road in Kirkdale at around 7.10pm last night ( Wednesday) following reports of an accident.

The girl, 14, was rushed to hospital.

A police spokesman said that the girl's bike was hit by a taxi. A spokesman said to the ECHO : "She was riding her bike when she was in collision with a Mercedes Vito taxi on Stanley Road at around 7.10pm. The driver stopped at the scene and she was taken to hospital."

Police have said that the girl is in a critical but stable condition.

Stanley Road was closed in both directions between Bankhall Street and Celia Street at around 7.30pm.

The accident happened near to the PDSA pets hospital on Stanley Road.
