A 13-year-old girl was seriously injured Tuesday in a hit-and-run in southwest suburban Robbins.
About 6:40 p.m., the girl and her mother were crossing the intersection of 135th Street and Springfield Avenue when a late model Jeep Cherokee drove through the intersection and struck the girl, Robbins police said. The driver of the Jeep exited her vehicle, took a look at the girl on the street, then got back in and took off west on 135th Street towards Crestwood.
The girl was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with a broken leg and possible head injuries, police said. She is in serious condition.
An all-points bulletin was issued with the description of the vehicle, but the license plate number could not be determined, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Robbins police at 708-385-4122.
