Girl, 12, suffers serious head injuries after being hit by car outside school

A 12-year-old girl has suffered serious head injuries after being hit by a car outside a school.

Police have said that the girl is being treated for serious head injuries in hospital in Cardiff after being injured in the collision.

It happened opposite Neath Abbey Infants School, in Skewen, south Wales at 3.35pm yesterday.

The car involved was a gold-coloured Peugeot 207, reports Wales Online .

A Wales Air Ambulance spokesman said: “Wales Air Ambulance attended an incident in the Neath Abbey area this afternoon.

“Our crew were mobile at 3.24pm and arrived at 3.35pm.

“Following treatment at the scene from our on-board consultant and critical care practitioner, we escorted the patient in a road ambulance to University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.

“Our involvement was completed at 5.28pm.”

South Wales Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them on 101, quoting the reference number 1900213230.
