A child suffered serious injuries after she was hit by a bus in north Manchester.
The 12-year-old girl was struck on Fernclough Road in Harpurhey at 3.45pm today (Thursday).
She was rushed to Royal Manchester Children's Hospital with hip and shoulder injuries.
A spokeswoman for the ambulance service said the pedestrian's injuries were 'serious' but she was conscious and 'alert'.
The road was taped off between Water Street and Ventnor Street, a GMP spokeswoman said.
Photos from the scene showed a double decker bus with damage to the front windscreen within the cordon.
A police spokeswoman said: "Shortly before 4pm police were called to reports of a 12-year-old child being hit by a bus causing injuries to her hip and shoulder.
"The child was taken to hospital.
"At 4.08pm it states Fernclough Road was closed between Water Street and Ventnor Street."
A spokeswoman for North West Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 3.45pm to Fernclough Road.
"We attended with an ambulance and a rapid response vehicle. We have taken (the girl) to Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.
"She's got shoulder injuries. Her injuries are serious. She was conscious and alert."
