A young girl was left lying in the road after being struck in a "shocking" hit and run in north Manchester this evening.
The 12-year-old girl was hit by a white Vauxhall Corsa on Amos Street on a residential street in Harpurhey at around 6:30pm police said.
The car then failed to stop and drove off.

Paramedics rushed to the scene, close to the border with Moston, and the girl was taken to hospital.
However thankfully her injuries are believed to be "minor" Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.
No one has yet been arrested and their enquiries into the incident are ongoing they added.
Locals living in the area said officers had been going door-to-door examining footage from CCTV cameras in a bid to trace the vehicle's movements.
Inspector Craig Roberts, of GMP's City of Manchester division, said: "This is a shocking incident in which a driver has collided with a young girl and failed to stop, leaving her injured on the roadside.
"This incident happened in daylight on a residential street, and I am hopeful that there are a number of witnesses who may have dashcam or CCTV footage that can aid our investigation.
"If you were in the area at the time and witnessed this incident, or have seen this car in the area around this time, please do not hesitate to contact police."
