A 12-year-old girl was killed in a two-car crash Sunday in northwest suburban Carpentersville.

Officers responded about 4:45 p.m. to calls of a crash at Randall and Miller roads, Carpentersville police said in a statement.

The girl was northbound in a Toyota minivan on Randall Road when it was struck by a southbound Audi sedan as the minivan tried to turn left onto Miller, police said.

The minivan’s occupants, a 52-year-old female driver and two juveniles, were taken to hospital, police said. The 12-year-old girl was pronounced dead at 8:37 p.m. at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. She lived in suburban Gilberts.

The driver and sole occupant of the Audi, a 40-year-old man, was also taken to a hospital, police said. The crash was still under investigation.

An autopsy released Tuesday found the girl died blunt force injuries to her torso from a vehicle striking another vehicle. Her death was ruled an accident.
