Girl, 12, charged after taking knife into school in Musselburgh

A 12-year-old girl has been charged after taking a knife into a school in Musselburgh.

Police were called after the child was found in possession of the offensive weapon after a call was made shortly after 9am on Thursday morning.

She was then charged.

No other pupils or members of staff were threatened or harmed.

A report will be submitted to the Children's Reporter.

A Police Spokesperson said: "A 12-year-old girl has been charged in connection with the possession of an offensive weapon after officers were called to a school in Musselburgh shortly after 9am on Thursday 28th March.

"At no point was another pupil or a member of staff threatened or harmed.

"A report will be submitted to the Children's Reporter and officers continue to liaise with the school and local authority surrounding this."
