Girl, 11, taken to hospital after collision with car in Chester-le-Street

An 11-year-old girl has been taken to hospital after a collision in Chester-le-Street.

The collision took place just before 11am on Thursday outside the Chester Moor pub and involved a pedestrian and a Mercedes, police said.

The North East Ambulance Service confirmed that the girl was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary with and leg and head injuries.

A spokesperson said: "We were called at 10.49pm to respond to a road traffic collision involving a car and one pedestrian.

"A paramedic crew attended and treated a young girl for leg and head injuries before taking her to the RVI in Newcastle.

A spokesperson Durham Constabulary said that they were alerted to the incident and confirmed that the 11-year-old girl suffered a broken leg in the collision.

They said: "Shortly before 11am on Thursday (Oct 21) we were alerted by the ambulance service to a road traffic collision on the A167 close to the Chester Moor pub.

"The collision involved a Mercedes car and a pedestrian. An 11-year-old girl was taken to hospital suffering from a broken leg."
