Girl, 11, spotted man 'filming' her friends while playing in the park

A quick thinking 11-year old girl phoned her parents after spotting a man "filming" her and her friends as they played in a park.

Police confirmed the "suspicious activity" which is said to have taken place in Orford Park, Warrington was reported to them on Sunday (March 21).

The girl told police she was in the park with friends when she spotted a man "taking pictures".

Cheshire Police said at no point did the man attempt to talk or approach the girl.

After spotting the man, police said the girl called her parents who collected her immediately and reported the man's activity at around 5.20pm.

Following the incident, the girl's mother posted on Facebook to warn other parents about the sighting.

She said a man was "filming" her daughter and two friends with "lots of other children" in Orford Park.

She added: "This was the first time we had let our 11-year old on the park alone. Never again. Please be vigilant parents. Police informed."

After the incident was reported, Sergeant Lee Hillyard from Cheshire Police said: “We understand that incidents of this nature can cause significant concern in local communities and I want to reassure residents that we take any reports extremely seriously.

“I would urge people to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to us immediately.

"If you are aware of an incident or have information, which could assist with our enquiries, and have not yet contacted us then I would encourage you to get in touch and we can look into this.

"The local policing team reviews any reports and intelligence about suspicious activity, as we do with anything else that happens in the area."
