Girl, 11, hit by car in Johnstone while walking home from school

A schoolgirl had a lucky escape as she managed to avoid any serious injuries when she was hit by a car as she walked home from school in Johnstone.

The 11-year-old ran out in front of the vehicle as it was travelling on Cochranemill Road near to Johnstone High School yesterday afternoon.

The car was unable to stop in time and struck the girl shortly after 3.30pm.

Emergency services raced to the scene, however, the youngster was found to only have minor injuries which did not require hospital treatment.
