An 11-year-old girl has died in London being found unresponsive in a flat with 'pest control' chemicals.
The girl was found yesterday afternoon in a Shadwell tower block, with three other residents also being hospitalised, MyLondon reports .
Sadly, she was taken to hospital in east London, where she died a short time later. Her next of kin have been informed.
Police were called at 4:12pm on Saturday (December 12) to the building on Sutton Street, Tower Hamlets.
The building was later evacuated and residents were eventually moved to hotels, where they have been told they will stay for two days.
After the evacuation, the London Fire Brigade swept the building and discovered a 'quantity of chemicals' believed to be used for pest control.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said they will be safely removed and an investigation will be carried out to find out how they came to be in the building.
Toni Santos Babi, a resident in the Nida House flats where the girl was found, reacted to the awful news.
He told MyLondon: "I was not aware of the death until late night, which made me feel awful, the fact of a young girl like that dying for such a preventable thing, is just crazy.
"Toni was one of many occupants of the block of flats who reported feeling unwell, although he said he couldn't be sure it was related.
He said: "I and my flatmates smelled a strange smell in our flat, and I had a headache, and they had a cough and throat ache for the last two days."
Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
