Girl, 10, hit by car in Liverpool residential street

A 10-year-old girl is in hospital after being hit by a car in Walton.

Merseyside Police rushed to the scene of a crash on Weldon Road at 6.05pm after reports of a 10-year-old girl being hit by a Hyundai iX35.

The child has been taken to hospital for treatment to injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting police with the investigation, they said this evening.

The crash, which happened at the junction with County Road, saw officers put a cordon in place and close the road to passing cars.

Officers from Merseyside Police's roads policing unit are now appealing for witnesses following the crash.
