Rangers return interests Giovanni van Bronckhorst as he opens door on becoming boss in the future

Former Barcelona and Rangers star Giovanni van Bronckhorst has revealed he would be interested in returning to Ibrox in the future.

The 44-year-old worked wonders in his homeland with Feyenoord, leading them to their first league title in 18 years in just his second season in charge.

He also led the club to two cup wins in his short time in charge.

The former defender was linked with the Light Blues manager's post following Mark Warburton and Pedro Caixinha's departures.

And having left his Feyenoord post at the end of the season, the ex-Gers man has opened the door on taking on the manager's job one day.

He told the Sunday Post : “To be the manager of Rangers is a huge honour, of course.

“I’ve been linked with it once or twice, and that was very nice.

“It’s a great football club and has a special feeling in my heart. So it was a huge compliment.

“But I was totally committed and focused on Feyenoord.

“You never know what may happen in the future, and we all know that it is never wise to try to predict where your career may take you."

Despite the link refusing to go away, Gio is adamant the supporters must rally around Steven Gerrard as the club look to halt Celtic 's ten-in-a-row bid.

He added: “You never know what happens because I know the club and have nice feelings for it.

“But it’s important for everyone to support Steven and the players next season. That is the only focus.

“You must give respect to Steven, his coaching staff, the players and supporters for their hard work over the past year. He is doing very well."
