Giovanni van Bronckhorst believes the gap between Rangers and Celtic is closing, as he backs Steven Gerrard to bring back the glory days.
The Dutchman spent three years at Ibrox under Dick Advocaat, winning two SPL titles.
And while Celtic secured their ninth in a row this term, the Guangzhou manager feels the gap is narrowing.
Van Bronckhorst told Sky Sports News : "I can only look with pride and a smile on my face on my wonderful years at Rangers.
"The gap between Rangers and Celtic is getting closer and hopefully Steven Gerrard will make Rangers champions again. He's doing a really good job.
"I can see similarities between Steven and me, it's a different task to being a player but we're both enjoying it."
After leaving Rangers, Van Bronckhorst experienced successful spells at Arsenal and Barcelona, and he's now coaching out in China.
