Giovanni van Bronckhorst 'accepts Manchester City role' as former Rangers star set for return to football

Former Rangers star Giovanni van Bronckhorst has reportedly accepted a coaching role at Manchester City .

The Dutchman has been out of football since leaving Feyenoord at the end of last season.

He's now set to join another former Rangers midfielder, Mikel Arteta, at the Premier League champions.

According to Telegraaf , van Bronckhorst will work across the City Football Group, the parent organisation who own Man City, Girona, Melbourne City and New York City.

It's reported the 44-year-old was spotted at the Etihad last week and a deal has been in place since the summer, with van Bronckhorst wanting to keep the news under wraps.

It's believed he will work with all four flagship clubs in order to develop as a coach, starting in Manchester.

He's shown considerable promise in his early managerial career after being handed the reins at his former club in Rotterdam.

In his second season as Feyenoord boss, van Bronckhorst led the club to their first Dutch title in 18 years, having delivered the KNVB Cup the previous year.

His playing career included stints at Ibrox, Arsenal, Barcelona in between two spells with Feyenoord.

Van Bronckhorst, who was comfortable both at left midfield and left-back, also played in the 2010 World Cup Final with Holland, losing 1-0 to Spain.
