Giovanni Pernice condemns Strictly result in very public display of support for Ellie and Nikita

Giovanni Pernice has shown his support for eliminated Strictly Come Dancing couple Ellie Simmonds and Nikita Kuzmin, with a very public condemnation of their 'too early' exit from the BBC show.

It's been nearly 12 months now since Giovanni lifted Strictly's coveted Glitterball trophy, after he and celeb partner Rose Ayling-Ellis blew everyone away with a string of stunning routines in the ballroom, beating John Whaite and Johannes in the 2021 final. After dancing with EastEnders star Rose in this year's launch show, Giovanni was back in the competition in an all-male partnership alongside Radio 2 and One Show host Richie Anderson.

However, their time on the show came to an end much earlier than expected, with Giovanni and Richie the second couple to get the boot in the new series. And, as he continues to appear in group numbers on Strictly, Giovanni has hit out the latest result, as he reacted to Nikita's heartbreaking Instagram post about him and Ellie being voted out.

A s Nikita admitted he was struggling to come to terms with their exit, Giovanni wrote in the comments section: "Way to early !! You guys were a dream to watch !! Both of you be proud of what you have achieved." His sentiments were backed up by ex dance partner Rose, who reacted: "Absolutely love watching you both. You both have shown that boundaries can be pushed, always be so so proud of this!"

Fresh from his exit from Strictly, Giovanni had some big news for Strictly fans when he revealed that he and judge Anton Du Beke, who he is going on tour with once again, had landed their own BBC series - Adventures in Sicily. Making the announcement on Insta, Giovanni wrote: "To say this has been a dream project is an understatement!

"Me and @mrantondubeke are going to be in my much-loved home of Sicily dancing, laughing and having the time of our lives! I cannot wait for viewers in the UK to come on this journey with us. See you in the Sicilian sun in 2023 on bbc iplayer."
