Giovani Lo Celso to Tottenham: What Spurs can expect from £67m transfer who plays like Luka Modric

Tottenham will likely need to break their transfer record again to complete the singing of Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis this summer.

Club-record signing Tanguy Ndombele joined for an initial £55m fee earlier in the summer window and Betis are now demanding £67million for Lo Celso.

Standard Sport understands Lo Celso has told Betis he wants to play Champions League football and is keen to play under compatriot Mauricio Pochettino at Spurs.

Real Betis are willing to let Lo Celso leave and are closing in on a replacement, with Nabil Fekir set to complete a £22.6m move from Lyon.

Fekir was linked with Liverpool last summer and has just one year remaining on his current contract in France.

His move will free Lo Celso to complete a move away from Seville, though Tottenham face competition for his signature.

Benfica, who have just received north of £100m for Joao Felix, have set their sights on Lo Celso as they look to replace the Portuguese wonderkid.

In the video at the top of the article, Standard Sport’s Spanish football correspondent Ben Hayward assesses the impact Lo Celso could have at Tottenham.
