Giovani Lo Celso opens up on his relationship with Jose Mourinho and his future at Tottenham

Tottenham fans will be hoping to see a lot more of Giovani Lo Celso over the coming months after some impressive performances off the bench in recent weeks.

Signed on loan from Real Betis on transfer deadline day, the midfielder has endured a frustrating time in N17 so far after picking up an injury one month after his move.

The hip issue he sustained on international duty in September ruled him out for just over a month and it meant that he had to watch on at a time when Mauricio Pochettino was just easing him into the first team.

Impressing in his starts against Red Star Belgrade and Sheffield United in November, it was then back to square one for the player following his fellow countryman's exit and the appointment of Jose Mourinho in his place.

Catching the eye off the bench in the recent games against Southampton, Middlesbrough and Liverpool, the 23-year-old, who has been tipped to sign a permanent deal with the Lilywhites this month, has opened up on his time at the club and stated that he is "happy" in the capital.

"My injury cost my progress here a little when I arrived," he told the club's matchday programme. "It particularly cost me even more because I was coming to a new club, to a new league, but now I am adapted to the club and my teammates, also to the new coaching staff.

"Coming here as well, it is special that four Argentines are all in one team together in England with Juan Foyth, Erik Lamela and Paulo Gazzaniga also here, but of course it is because many Argentines have previously played in the Premier League and have done very well in England.

"They have helped me a lot to adapt and I am happy to have them as teammates.

"With Jose Mourinho, all is going well. He is a winning coach, with a lot of history and success as a manager. He has been in great clubs and today we have him here with us.

"We know that it is a long season and that there are very important matches ahead and we need to make sure we are at our best as a team.

"Personally I hope to continue growing and improving as a player and as a person by day.

"Right now, I feel good, working day to day to help the team and I am focused on our work and what will come.

"I feel good and happy to be here."
