Giovani Lo Celso and Erik Lamela absences from Tottenham squad to face Southampton explained

Tottenham Hotspur are missing their two Argentinean attacking midfielders for the FA Cup fourth round replay against Southampton.

Giovani Lo Celso has been in great form, starting Tottenham's past five matches in a row, excelling in a deeper role in Jose Mourinho's side.

Erik Lamela has been used to great effect from the bench in recent weeks, setting up Son Heung-min's goal in the first cup game at Southampton.

However, football.london understands Lo Celso misses out on the replay with a thigh injury which is not believed to be serious.

Lamela is unavailable due to a groin problem while there were late fitness test for skipper Hugo Lloris, with a hip problem, and on Dele Alli, who suffered an ankle injury after a heavy challenge from Raheem Sterling in Spurs' 2-0 victory against Manchester City on Sunday.

Lloris starts the match while Alli is on the bench and will not be risked unless needed.

Spurs have named a young bench with academy stars Troy Parrott, Dennis Cirkin and Oliver Skipp all on there.

Mourinho will be hoping to have all of this players back for the match against Aston Villa after Tottenham's mini-winter break.
