Giorgos Giakoumakis four word response to Atlanta goal record as Celtic No1 Joe Hart sends message

Giorgos Giakoumakis has delivered a four word response after setting a new record at Atlanta United.

The former Celtic star became the quickest player to score 10 goals in the Five Stripes' history as he rounded D.C. United keeper Tyler Miller to roll the ball into an empty net. It came after he latched onto a long ball from Miles Robinson as the onrushing goalkeeper misjudged the pass with the Greek putting himself in the record books with just 13 minutes on the clock.

His strike came as part of a 3-1 win with forgotten Hoops defender Andrew Gutman also on target for his club side. Giakoumakis stated after the game that he believed he could 'score in every game', stating: “Every year. I mean, c’mon, let’s be honest. I’m a striker. It has to be in my mind, It has to be in my mind first of all in order to give me extra motivation.

"Every single game I have to stay focused, I have to find my own motivation. That’s my first one. Whenever I feel I have to score in every single game, it means I also have to help the team more. Whenever I score, my team has an advantage. That’s why it’s in my mind always.”

But now he has offered a further reaction to his record-breaking goal on Instagram. He uploaded a series of snaps from the game looking visibly delighted with the caption: "Out there chasing records."

Celtic No1 Joe Hart was delighted for his pal and sent him two clapping emojis to celebrate his success.

The hitman - signed by now Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou from VVV-Venlo - was sold to the MLS outfit back during the winter transfer window. He left alongside Josip Juranovic who made the move to the Bundesliga with Union Berlin.

In 14 appearances this season, the 28-year-old has fired 10 strikes to date.
