Gionee’s new marathon phones have twice as much battery capacity than most other smartphones.
The original Gionee Marathon M5 has over 6,000 mAh battery capacity and retails under Rs 20,000 on Flipkart. The Gionee Marathon M5 has two new siblings — M5 Plus and M5 Enjoy.
Both the phones were launched in China and are available for sales online. The M5 Enjoy costs CNY 1,999 (~Rs 20,00) and the M5 Plus costs CNY 2,499 (~Rs 25,000).
They are available at a price higher than the original M5 despite their lower battery capacities (1,000 mAh less). However, they make up for that flaw with a fingerprint scanner at the bottom.
Both the phones run Amigo OS 3.1 (based on Android 5.1 Lollipop), pack 3 GB of RAM, 5,000 mAh batteries, 64 bit quad-core processors, expandable storage via microSD, dual-SIM 4G slots while weighing roughly 200 grams.
Where the M5 Plus trumps the M5 Enjoy, is a full HD 6 inch screen over the 5.5 inch 720p TFT screen. The M5 Plus comes with 64 GB internal storage, 13 MP camera and a USB Type C instead of M5 Enjoy’s 16 GB storage, 8MP camera and a micro USB port.
Even though it packs in more features, the Gionee Marathon M5 Plus is over half a millimeter thinner than the M5 Enjoy, making it a much better deal for the price.
