Gio van Bronckhorst toasts Rangers return as boss joins Ross Wilson and key staff for celebratory meal

New Rangers boss Gio van Bronckhorst was all smiles as he hit the town for a celebratory meal after sealing an emotional return to Ibrox.

The 46-year-old will take his place at Hampden today as he watches his charges take on Hibs in a blockbuster Premier Sports Cup semi-final.

He will then take the reins on Monday ahead of a mammoth Europa League showdown with Sparta Prague - knowing a 2-0 win will seal their place in the Europa League knockouts.

Van Bronckhorst was flanked by Roy Makaay and sporting director Ross Wilson, as well as his family and other members of his Rangers coaching team in a Glasgow restaurant.

It comes after the former Feyenoord mapped out his vision for his new club and what he expects to achieve after succeeding Steven Gerrard.

Speaking to Rangers TV, he said: "You see the team is in a good moment, they have been working very hard to become the team they are now.

"Steven did a great job in helping them become as strong as they are now.

"It's just the case of continuing this positivity, to help the club, help the team become even better.

"I think we are always a club who wants to win prizes, and win trophies, I had that as a player, I also have that mentality as a coach.

"I am looking forward to helping this team forward."
