Gio van Bronckhorst admits he was pleased to take three points from Dundee United - but the manager was less than impressed with a lacklustre Rangers performance.
The Premiership champions extended their lead over Celtic to seven points via James Tavernier 's penalty but toiled for long spells against a threadbare United.
Tannadice boss Tam Courts included 10 academy players in his squad following a Covid-19 outbreak at the club but United managed to largely frustrate their hosts until Scott McMann handled in the box.
Tavernier stepped up to seal the all-important victory and although Van Bronckhorst was delighted to dig out a result, he wanted to see more from his players.
He told Rangers TV: "It was a difficult game, we saw a Dundee United team who did everything to give us a challenge, which they did.
"It was a really good performance by them, our performance wasn't the way I wanted, the way we want the team to play.
"That's why we struggled to create chances.
"Second-half, we created some more danger, we had a couple of chances to score.
"From a penalty, James is very good at it, he really helped us to get the goal.
"Dundee United kept pressing us and pushing to score the 1-1.
"In the end, I'm really happy with the points, not happy with the performance."
